On-Campus Trails

     From teeming Lake Hartwell to a transverse nature setting, the land located on the Campus of Clemson University offers a mixture of running trails to walkers, runners, and bicyclist.  The links below contain mappage of trails that have been mapped out by previous individuals. Please take advantage of the information conatained as we are here to strictly fulfill your exercising desires.

Short Dyke Run

Difficulty:  Easy-Moderate

Details:
   The Short Dyke Trail is a 3.5 mile run, it begins at the ATM's in front of Death Valley, goes around the South side of Death Valley and Past the Baseball Fields to the Rowing Club.  As you approach the rowing club there will be a tall chain link fence with an opening in it,  this is the entrance to the dike, between

Difficulty:  Moderate
Directions:  From Sikes Hall continue down HWY 93 towards easly .5 miles, merge onto SC-76 .1 miles, turn right onto Perimeter Rd. and continue .1 miles.  Turn Right in the SC Botanical Gardens where parking is available to the public.

Details:  The Campus 5-mile trail consists of a variety of different habitats, the points located 2 and 3 on the map above are the Walker Golf Course and the Clemson Rowing Club.  About 75% of the distance covered between points 2 and 3 consists of grassed terrain.  The remainder of the entier trail is mostly sidewalk which takes you through the beautiful Clemson University Campus.

YMCA Loop
Length:  4.2 mi
Difficulty:  Easy - Moderate
Directions:  Starting from Sikes Hall, continue on SC 93 S for 1.8 miles.  Take a left onto YMCA Cir and take an immediate left to find parking.

Details:  This trail is takes you through areas of running along roads as well as through forests and trails.  Though the actual starting point is located at the YMCA, the loop is easily accessible for students living on campus.  There are some hilly areas incorporated in this loop, but nothing to be considered very strenuous. 

Big Campus Loop
Length:  5.6 mi
Difficulty:  Moderate
Directions:  Accessible anywhere on campus.  Parking may be best found on Perimeter Rd.

Details:  This loop incorporates both running along roads as well as trail and dike running.  This loop is easily accessible for anybody located on campus.  There are several hilly areas in this loop, but nothing very difficult.  

Lighted Campus Loop
Length: 3.0 mi
Difficulty:  Easy
Directions:  Accessible anywhere on campus.  Parking may be best found on Perimeter Rd.

Details:  The Lighted Campus Loop takes you around the main part of the Clemson campus along lighted streets the entire way (Good for running at night).  This loop has little elevation change and is easily accessible all year at any time.
